Certified Community Tennis Association Volunteer Requirements

MCTA is a registered non-profit 501(c)(3) in Washington State and is affiliated with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) as a certified Community Tennis Association (CTA). In keeping with our mission to "To grow the lifelong sport of tennis throughout the Mid-Columbia community by providing equipment, opportunity & resources,” MCTA requires that all volunteers are screened by the USTA's Safe Play program.


Safe Play Requirements

Adults who have regular contact with or authority over a minor athlete in USTA programs, events, or tournaments must be in compliance with Safe Play.  This includes background screens and education about prevent misconduct in sport for the following groups:

  • USTA Staff

  • US USTA Certified Officials

  • Independent contractors falling within the definition of a Participant

  • Volunteer coaches for USTA Junior Team Tennis

  • All Net Generation tennis providers

  • Pro Circuit Tournament Directors

  • USTA Junior Sanctioned Tournament Directors

  • USTA Board of Directors

  • USTA staff tennis professionals

  • Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day Volunteers

  • US Open Volunteers

  • USTA National Campus Ambassadors

  • Davis Cup and Fed Cup Volunteers

  • Anti-Doping Chaperones during the US Open

  • USTA Player Development Incorporated Staff

  • USTA National Tennis Center Incorporated Tennis Professional Staff


USTA Master Liability/Accident Insurance Program

MCTA has met USTA guidelines governing the “Program Eligibility” and the undersigned on behalf of the “Member Participant”, accepts the USTA’s offer to participate as an insured under the USTA Master Liability/Accident Insurance Program for Community Tennis Associations.
